Roseate Spoonbills at Lake Martin Louisiana


Come join the Safari Club photographing nesting Roseate Spoonbills at the Lake Martin Louisiana Cypress Swamp:


Lake Martin, the crown jewel of The Nature Conservancy’s 9,500-acre Cypress Island Preserve , annually hosts about 20,000 nesting pairs of wading birds in its cypress-tupelo gum swamp rookery. Woodstorks, Roseate Spoonbills, Glossy Ibis, White Ibis, Cattle Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Great Egrets, and little Blue Herons are some of the species found in great abundance nesting and roosting in the Cypress Island rookery This is your opportunity to personally experience the swamp environment of the wilderness wetlands of Louisiana. Join the Safari Club for an unforgettable escape into paradise, and a vanishing way of life.

Itinerary
Day 1: Early departure (Tampa) TPA to New Orleans (MSY) – Upon arrival head directly to Lake Martin for afternoon boat and sunset shoot. To Hotel, Dinner and group photo critique.

· Day 2: Sunrise bird & boat tour of swamp followed by several hours of roosting spoonbills nesting. Quick lunch and afternoon trip to Jungle Gardens/Avery Island, home to the internationally famous Tabasco pepper sauce manufacturing facility photographing bird, landscape, etc.

Day 3: To Café Des Amis on Saturday morning for a Zydeco Music breakfast (you must see to believe Late afternoon bird shoot at the Lake Martin rookery till sunset. Evening Photoshop technique class before dinner.
Day 4: Up Early for last morning shoot and off to airport for flight back to Tampa.

Three Day Instructional Birding Photo Workshop


Come join the Safari Club photographing nesting Great Blue Herons at the Venice Rookery and on our special Birding Boat Adventure:



The Venice Rookery is one of the world’s premier destinations for the Bird Photographer. As part of the workshop canon participants will have the opportunity to tryout large telephoto lenses (300 to 500mm).





The Rookery offers the nature photographer an opportunity to photograph colonies of nesting Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, and may yield opportunities to photograph other species such as the Anhinga, Snowy Egret, Cormorants, White Ibis, Black-Crowned Night Heron, Common Moorhen, Pied-billed Grebe.






The Sarasota Land Fill provides numerous opportunities to photograph Eagles, Hawks, Sandhill Cranes and Wood Storks and more.

The Safari Club Bird and Boat provides a unique photo opportunities and it is doubtful that any wildlife lover or outdoors person would be able to find enough superlatives to convey the awesome experience.

Itinerary
Day 1: 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM Evening Exposure & Histogram Class designed to prepare the class for camera setup

· Day 2: Sunrise trip to the Venice Rookery followed by Sarasota Land Fill in search of Bald Eagles.

Day 3: Early morning bird & boat photo shoot in Sarasota Bay. Return to JPI for a follow-up critique.
